Polenta cake with a magic touch

This is a very… good looking polenta, but it is also an easy way to enjoy a good meal, impressing your dear ones, especially your kids and grandkids.

You need three cups of whole milk. Bring it to a boil into a saucepan, together with a teaspoon of salt and two tablespoons of butter. Now it`s time to let it snow with a cup of corn flour! Whisk constantly until your polenta starts bubbling. Add a pinch of saffron for a secret and magic touch of color and flavor. Stop cooking it and mix the polenta with a cup of grated provolone cheese or any type of cheese you like, including some chunks of gluey, milky mozzarella!

Put one layer of polenta into a buttered oven tray, cover it with sliced mozzarella, smoked bacon or sausages and cover with the rest of the polenta. Let it snow again with grated parmesan and put the tray into the oven, until the cheese on top is melted and your polenta cake looks bright golden. Let it rest and cool for a while, take it out of the tray and cut it into rectangular shapes or, if you dare for more, you can create stars or hearts with your grits cake. You can decorate it with some basil leaves and cherry tomatoes, or with some deep fried sauerkraut ribbons.

This is a delicious dish you can enjoy it warm or cold and, and, trust me, your family and friends will always ask for more.
