Try to put in someone else`s place. This is very hard to apply, simply because it is not just about empathy, it is about the way you face the same problem, based on your life experience, age, temper and so on.

Sometimes, when a friend is trying to tell you how bad he feels about a certain thing he just experienced, you stop him talking, saying you had a similar experience and you know how he feels. Are you sure about that? The best way you can help is to really pay attention to his story.

What used to be your first thought when you were hearing someone complaining about something? Trying to give him some solutions, so he could fix his issue? Judging that person, because was complaining without doing anything to solve the problem and move on? Well, some people find the way to their best solutions while they are speaking loud and clear about their issues! Even when you come with the best solutions, maybe some people are not ready yet to act your way!

We all are so different! Remember not to get upset next time when a friend is asking your opinion about an issue, and the very next day you discover he didn`t follow your advice at all!
