This is a fast and yummy recipe I grew up with, so I have to say thanks to my maternal grandma. It is easy to make and very versatile, simply because you can eat it like that, or improve it both ways, salty or sweet.

Practically, you need basic bread dough, you can buy it or you can make it from scratch, mixing plane flour, a pinch of salt and water. All you have to do is making thin discus, the size of a small dish and give them a deep fry until they are gold and crispy.

Sprinkle two tablespoons of grated cheese and add one tablespoon of heavy cream on top of each fried dough piece and eat it hot. It’s a simple but delicious way to enjoy a weekend breakfast.

You can also take the fry dough to the next level by mixing it with some ham, mushrooms or bacon slices before you turn it into discus and fry it. These ones could be eaten with some mayo or ketchup sauce.

If you choose the sweet version, then you can sprinkle some sugar on top of each fried dough disc, as my grandma used to do, or some jelly, it would be also an option, as well as vanilla sugar, or any sweet cream you like.

You can also mix some cream cheese with vanilla extract and lemon zest and sugar or even a dash of cocoa powder, or coconut flakes and a different type of yumminess just born in your kitchen!
